Dodge Park, located in Omaha, is on the site of one of the Lewis & Clark campgrounds from 1804 and their expedition across the Louisiana Purchase. Orpheum Theater
The Orpheum Theater celebrates more than 100 years of theatrical performances in downtown Omaha. In 1898, the Orpheum theater was showing daily performances from the vaudeville circuit. In 1927, the theater owners decided to build a larger theater to meet the demand for vaudeville. Over the years, additional renovations have made been made, including larger seats, a new stage and improvements to the acoustics.
Visit this magnificent Nebraska theater to see the ornate architectural details that date back to 1927 in the Grand Lobby, Entrance Lobby and Slosburg Hall. The Durham Museum
The Durham Museum is housed in a 1931 former Union Pacific Rail Station in Omaha, that quickly became one of the busiest train stations in the country. After the station was donated to the city in 1973, the modest museum opened in 1975. After extensive renovations in 1995, 2004 and 2007 the museum was expanded with additional galleries and square footage.
In 2002, the museum became an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. Visit this incredible museum to view the collection of historical Nebraska artifacts, photographs, documents and exhibits. Take your time strolling through the Baright Home and Family Gallery, the Union Station Gallery and the Bishop Clarkson Community Gallery. Schedule plenty of time to enjoy it all.
